Donna Jean Smith

Donna Jean Smith, 86, of Byron, IL formerly of Sycamore, IL Aurora, IL and Ozark, MO passed away Friday, January 11, 2019. Born July 18, 1932 in Sycamore, IL to Cecil and Inez (Matteson) Kays. Married Richard Charles Smith on May 27, 1951 in Sycamore, IL; he predeceased her in May 2001. Her favorite job was being a nursery school teacher. Donna was a member of Cornerstone Family Church, Ogle County Seniors and Byron Women’s Club. She loved to cook, sew, travel and most of all spend time with her family.

Survivors include daughter, Vicki (Ben) Dalton of Byron, IL; grandchildren, Jake (Blythe) Dalton of Pecatonica, IL, Kendra (Annie Getschel) Cox of Loves Park, IL; great-grandchildren, Ascher Cox, Berkley Dalton, Braxton Dalton; sisters-in-law, Jean Williams and Bonnie Smith. Predeceased by husband; and parents. Special thanks to the nurses, CNA’s and therapy staff of Neighbor’s Nursing Home, Swedish American Hospital and the Byron EMT’s.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 in Cornerstone Family Church, 205 N. Peru Street, Byron, IL with a luncheon to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Cornerstone Family Church.
