Domingo J. Herrera, 81, of Celaya, Guanajuato-Mexico, passed peacefully on January 9, 2020 in his home, located in Rockford, IL. Domingo was born on May 12, 1938, to Juliana Mandujano and Castulo Herrera. He was married to the love of his life Consuelo Mejia, on March 14, 1966. Domingo had an innate entrepreneurial spirit which led him to open his own clothing business at the young age of 25. He had a charisma about him that seemed to draw people in. Domingo had the special talent of making everyone around him feel special and cared for which led to him having friends from all walks of life, young and old. He grew to be greatly respected in his community in Mexico, all while his business continued to prosper and while he was becoming a father. Consuelo and Domingo were blessed with 7 wonderful children. Together they worked hard to raise their children in a Godly manner and to provide for their every need.  He was not only an outstanding businessman and loving friend, but also a strong, courageous father. As the years passed, his children inevitably grew and started their lives as adults. In 1996, Domingo and Consuelo immigrated to the United States in order to join one of their sons in Maryland. From there they all moved to Rockford, Illinois to start lives for themselves in the land of opportunity. In Rockford, Illinois Domingo spent his years surrounded by his sons and daughters who all immigrated to the United States as well. He enjoyed years of happiness celebrating his children's accomplishments and watching his family multiply. Domingo was a grandfather to many, always present at every special birthday and momentous occasion. He will be remembered for his strength and compassion, as well as his sweet tooth for candy or sweet bread.

Domingo is loved by his sons, Gerardo, Javier, and Domingo; daughters, Nora, Raquel, Norma, and Rocio; daughters-in-law, Sandra, Sol, and Carla; sons-in-law, Ignacio, Hector, and Fernando; grandchildren, Issac, Judith, Jonathan, Aaron, Giovanni, Josafat, Ruth, Raquelita, Abraham, Brandom, Janet, Jade, Keila, Hannah, Benjamin, Abigail, Asahel, Caleb, and Alondra; as well as many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
