Dolores “Dolly” L. Merriman, 79, passed peacefully away on the 24th of September, 2019. Born in 1940 in Manistique MI, daughter of Howard and Ruby Gilroy. Dolly married her high school sweetheart, Gordon “Gordy” Merriman, in Redford, MI in 1958, and celebrated over 61 years of marriage.
Previously employed as a bookkeeper/owner of The Auto Clinic in South Beloit, IL and in the accounting department at Rock Valley College. Dolly was a member of the Coachman Car Club and volunteered for nearly 40 years at the Beloit Autorama Car Show raising money to benefit various charities. She was also a former member of Rockton’s Federated Women’s Club and special groups of friends in Card club and Bunko club for many years.
Survivors include husband, Gordon, South Beloit; daughter, Terri (Rick) Flodeen, Rockton, IL; son, Randy Merriman, South Beloit, IL; daughter, Amy (Mark) Thomas, Australia; and much adored granddaughter, Mae, Australia.
Also mourning her passing are sisters, Lois Denison, MI, Phyllis Ansell, WI, Norma (Ron) Jasinski, Rockton, IL, Karen (R.J) Smith, MI, Donna Swisher, MI; and brother, Arthur (Luella) Gilroy, MI; many special nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents.
Funeral service will be at 12:30pm with a Visitation from 11:30am until the time of service on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe, IL 61073. Drive ‘em if you got ‘em!
