David Leonard Erlandson

David Leonard Erlandson, 77, of Rockford passed away surround by his family Thursday, November 23, 2017. Born January 12, 1940 in Rockford to Leonard and Hazel (Bjork) Erlandson. A veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Ranger during 1962 – 1965. Retired after 35 years from Camcar/Textron. David enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, reading, building model railroads, sailing, listening to music, history, and rescuing his many cats whom he loved dearly. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters, Brenda (Aashiq) Shanavas, Becky (Hilal) Khanqashi; grandchildren, Zaid, Ibraheem, and Ejaz. Predeceased by parents.

Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park, with military honors at 7:00 p.m. Private family burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.
