David N. Cox

David N. Cox, 91, of Roscoe, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.  He was born in Chicago on April 5, 1926 to Dr. Henry H. and Ruth (Griffen) Cox.  Moved to Rockford in 1956 and he worked for Sears for 33-1/2 years as a department manager and salesman.  He served two years during WWII in the Army, 40th Infantry Division in the South Pacific, mainly in the Philippine Islands.  After the war he attended and graduated from Michigan State University. Prior to being in the service, he graduated from Missouri Military Academy where he earned varsity letters in six different sports.

Survived by his wife, Joyce; four children, Nancy (Franz) Olson, David S. (Barbara) Cox, Michael W. (Judy) Cox and Janie E. (Jeff) Grady; step-children, Michael (Velia Zammuto) Barlow and Nancy (K.C. Keefer) Keefer-Barlow; nine grandchildren, Andrew French, Sam and Cathy Cox, Britney and Branton Cox, Amanda, Nicole, Mathew and Samantha Grady; two step-grandchildren, Evan Barlow and Whitney Robles.    Predeceased by his parents; sister, Dorothy Read; brother, Henry Cox. David dearly loved his friends and family.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 11:00am until the service on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe.  Pastor Lisa Abb will officiate.  Burial in Roscoe Cemetery.
