Belva B. Fentiman, 92, of Rockford, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019. She was born on January 4, 1927 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to James L. and Velma (McDaniels) Hicks. Belva worked for Nasa at Martin Marietta for many years and retired from there. She loved to shop and was always ready to go out to eat! Belva loved being part of the "Golden Girls" which included Jean, Wanda and her daughter. They enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel together, especially on holidays.
Survivors include her children, Margie Brown, Quila (Delton) Crowe, Ed (Lynn) VanVickle; 9 grandchildren and Patricia; 13 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jean Stucker, Shirley Holmes, Buford Hicks, Venita Wright, June Collis and Jerry Hicks. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Elmer Fentiman, Sr.; son, Elmer J. Fentiman, Jr.; three brothers and two sisters.
Special thanks to the rehab staff at Neighbors who were so wonderful to our mom; Dr. Whelan, her urologist who was so caring; and Dr. Martinez, who mom thought walked on water.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, Illinois 61111. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Currie officiating with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.
