James Frederick Geaschel, 79, of Cherry Valley, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was born on January 19, 1945 in East St. Louis, IL, to Adolph Earl and Clara (Nash) Geaschel. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1963. Married Judith A. Kemper in East St. Louis, IL, on October 16, 1964. Jim was a machine builder and assembler at several local companies. He loved old cars and going to car shows. He enjoyed watching old Westerns, loved animals, especially dogs, and he will be missed by his dog, Smokey.
He is survived by his wife, Judith; children, James (Cherri) Geaschel, Robert (Michele) Geaschel and William (Christine) Geaschel; grandchildren, Michael, Daniel (Katlynn), Jesse (Anna), Britta (Josh) Fuzak, Armin (Amanda), Anna (Izzac) Miller-Schipper, Eva, Elaina, Greta, Jena, Karina, Clara and Tia; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Noelle and Shiloh Fuzak and Simon and Mila Jane Miller-Schipper; sister, Erlene Race; nieces and nephews, Daniel (Jina) Baggio, Steve Kempin, Kay (Jeff) Ator and Billy Race. Predeceased by his parents and sisters, Carol, Linda and Ruth.
The family gives special thanks to Pastor Gary and Maywood Evangelical Church where Jim was a member.
Service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, May 3, 2024 in Maywood Free Church, 3621 Samuelson Rd., Rockford, IL with a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery, Rockford. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or Care for Pets Animal Rescue, wecareforpets.org.
