Zygmunt "Siggi" Ciurej

Zygmunt "Siggi" Ciurej, 68, of Machesney Park passed away on March 25, 2018 at Mercy Health Hospital after a short illness, with Mona holding his hand.  Born January 20,1950 in Hindenburg Germany, to Josef and Hildegard Ciurej. He came to the United States in the 1990's. He lived in Chicago a short while and then moved to Rockford where he started working at Advanced Machine and Hennig. He married Ramona "Mona" Sernas on Dec. 16, 2000. Even though the marriage did not last, the love and friendship continued until the end. They were always together and supportive of each other. Siggi loved traveling, nature, the Mississippi River, boating and sailing. What he loved the most was sitting on the deck in summer or by the fireplace in winter with Mona and his "furry kids” cats, Leo, Max, Zizi and Leenie.

Survivors include Mona; children, Robert, Rafael, Anya of Germany; sister, Renatta of Poland; many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Europe and Chicago; and many, many friends. Special thank you to Goellner Inc. for their support and to friend, Milagras "Angel" Ramos for being by Mona's side and helping through these trying times.

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Please feel free to share your memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
