Velma T. Penney

Velma T. Penney, 96, of Rockford, one of eight children born in Crystal Falls, Michigan on December 18, 1919, passed in her sleep Sunday afternoon, September 11, 2016 under the care of hospice.  She moved to Rockford for work and married her husband, James Penney, on December 18, 1945.  They had seven children, Diane Atkinson, Leroy Penney, Charlette Warren, Jimmy Penney (deceased), Judy Penney, Richard Penney and John Penney.  She had over 29 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and multiple great-great-grandchildren.  Velma retired from Amerock Cabinet after several years of manufacturing and enjoyed her retirement spending time with family and friends on a regular basis.  She looked forward to having family over to the house and making pasta, chicken, macaroni and tomatoes.

The family would like to thank Family Centered Hospice, Alden Park Strathmoor and their staffs for all the love and support given to Velma during her time there.  Special thanks to Carmen, Dennis and Charmain Bliss for all their efforts and love given over the years.
