Shawn A. Baxter

Shawn Avery Baxter, 60, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born June 14, 1956, in Rockford, the son of Bradley Baxter and Joyce ((Richard) Veit. Shawn graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Rockford College. Shawn always lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many pastimes such as gardening, repairing everything, being with friends and family, and had a wonderful artistic eye. He worked at Midway Village for 17 years as the Site and Operations Manager and considered them part of his family.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Joyce (DeCamp) and Dick Veit; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susie and Don Ullrich, Mickey and Kerry Heinzeroth, Joanie and Gary Chylak, and Janie and Jeff Miller. He also has many wonderful nieces and nephews that were a big part of his life, Michele (Scott), Lisa (Dan), Kyle (Alicia), Michael (Alyssa), Kristen (Ted), Matthew, Ryan (Amber), Kelsey (Anthony), Anna, Jack, Tara; and great-nieces and nephews, Tyler, Austin, Joshua, Kate, Ella and Audrey. Predeceased by his father, Bradley Baxter, and grandparents.

There will be a celebration of Shawn’s life starting at 11:00am on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Midway Village, 6799 Guilford Rd., Rockford, IL, 61107. Memorials will be used to have a park bench made in Shawn’s honor to be placed at Midway Village.
