Mildred "Millie" Zeller

Mildred "Millie" Zeller, 92, of Rockford died peacefully on December 8, 2017 at The Bickford House.  She was born on February 11, 1925 to Earnest and Lillie Smith in Summit, Mississippi.  She graduated from Mars Hill High School where she was an outstanding basketball and softball player.  After graduation she moved north to Genoa, Illinois, working for the railroad.  It was here that she met the love of her life, husband Sam Zeller and started her family.  She was one of the first employees of Clinton Electronics and worked there many years as a lab technician.  She was known for her friendly smile, her compassion and caring nature for her family and friends.  She was a spiritual person and an active member of Christ United Methodist Church.  As the oldest child of seven, she had a strong sense of love and family.  She passed that on to her own family.  She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and games with friends.

Survivors include son, Sam (Barb) Zeller; son-in-law, Dale Greenlee; sisters, Mavis Anderson and Thelma Doby; sister-in-law, Callista Smith; grandchildren, Mackenzie (John) Knabe, Jordan Zeller, Erik and Ben (Lena) Stromberg, Mandy (Todd) Bourff and Julie Greenlee; great-grandchildren, Elliette and Griffin Knabe, Cooper French, Allie and Emma Bourff, Colten and Millie Greenlee and Ari Stromberg; many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband, Sam; daughter, Linda Greenlee; parents; brothers, Leonard, Pearlie and Elmer; and sister, Earline.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am with a Visitation from 9:30 until the service on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford 61107.  Private burial in Scottish Argyle Cemetery, Caledonia.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Journey Care Hospice.
