Marylyn J. Johnson

Marylyn J. Johnson, 78, of Loves Park, passed away on Sunday, at dawn, October 29, 2017. She was born on September 22, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois to Maynard and Mary (Bill) Thoren. Marylyn married Robert G. Johnson on November 21, 1962 in Rockford. She was a 4th grade school teacher at Rolling Green School for five years. In 1979 she went on to hold several positions in Medical Research. Marylyn was an accomplished accordion player. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, music and traveling. 

Survivors include her husband, Robert G. Johnson; daughter, Lisa (Alexi) Stavropoulos and stepson, Dimitri, of Penngrove, California; daughter, Bethany (Bill) Hollister and their children, Liam and Violet, of Portland, Oregon; son, Michael Johnson and his children, Abigal, Aidan and Jack, of Dixon, Illinois; brother, Skip (MaryAnn) Thoren, of Louisville, Kentucky. Predeceased by her parents. 

A graveside service will be on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Scandinavian Cemetery Gazebo, 1700 Rural St., Rockford, IL 61107. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707.
