Mary (Caldwell) Boel

Mary Caldwell Boel, 67, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 in Rockford due to complications with cancer. Born in Chicago on July 9, 1950 to Ruth Caldwell and John Caldwell. Married Leroy “Lee” Boel on May 21, 1977. Graduated from Harlem High School class of 1968. Mary enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening in her backyard, and admiring the wildlife.  She had a fascination with hummingbirds and an undeniable love for cats. Mary loved music, particularly The Beatles, and everything having to do with the Christmas holiday, especially decorating the tree. Above all, Mary loved her family and friends, selflessly, both near and far. She had a huge heart and an unforgettable sense of humor that would light up a dark room. 

Survived by her husband, Lee Boel; daughter, Kristin Boel, both of Rockford; brothers, Steven (Jeanne) Caldwell, David Caldwell; nephews, SJ Caldwell, Jr. (Robynn), Chad Caldwell (Casey), and Jonathan Caldwell (Alene), Witt Caldwell.   Predeceased by her parents, Ruth Caldwell,  John Caldwell.

A special thanks to all of the caregivers throughout Mary's journey including Dr. William Edwards of the Swedish American Regional Cancer Center, the entire staff at Swedish American Hospital, Presence St. Anne Center nurse Kris Goodman, the entire South Staff and the PT/OT staff, A Grace Hospice Care nurses Christine, Sara and Ed, and Honquest Funeral Home and Crematory. It takes special people to do what you do and it will forever be appreciated.

Memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 in Honquest  Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park. Casual attire required. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to your preferred charity.
