Mark Duane Schwartzlow, 59, of Machesney Park, Illinois, passed away on March 2, 2018. Mark was born in Rockford, IL on June 11, 1958 to Roderick and Virginia (Miller) Schwartzlow. He was married to Carla Schultz on November 3, 1979; they were married for 38 years. Mark worked at Kinroth Machine Shop, Machesney Park Mall as a landscaper and Napleton's Autowerks where he drove for them. Mark was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was actively involved as a member of the SM & SF Club, the Venetian Club, the Verdi Club and the Harmony Club. He was the past President for the Association of Clubs and served as a board member. He was a big fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Oakland Raiders. Mark enjoyed many years of babysitting children, playing Santa and going fishing. Mark loved to cook and bake. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Mark also loved to have fun, have a few beers, play pull tabs, lottery and share his contagious laugh with those around him.
Mark is survived by his wife, Carla; daughter, Nicole (Kevin) Bleile; granddaughters, Morgan Bleile and Brooke Bleile; grandson, Lukas Bleile; special dog, Abby; sisters, Sandy (Don) Bounds, MaryAnn (Paul) Feltz, Dianne (Clyde) Feltz, Carol (Ed) Boothe, Sue (Carl) Gambino and Joanne Mellgren; brother, Bruce (Cherie) Schwartzlow; and many nieces and nephews. Mark is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Scott, Mike, Danny and Gary; and two infant siblings.
We would like to thank Mercyhealth (RMH) Hospitalist Group for all they have done. We would also like to thank Dr. Ahmed Kahn for the special friendship and care over the past few years. A special thank you to the staff on A3 for making his last few days of life more comfortable. Thank you to the staff at Heart and Vascular for all of their care for Mark over the years. The last few weeks, Mark lived his life to the fullest with all of his special friends and family, Lee, Jack, Bill, Jeff, Graham and Bernie; you meant the world to him. To MaryAnn, Sandy and his daughter, Nicole, thank you for helping the last two years with med changes so that Carla could work and go away once in awhile. Thank you Karen and Monica with Mercyhealth at Home Hospice for your care for Mark at home and prior to that, Mary Max with VNA. Thank you Randy (hospice chaplin) and Owen (hospice social worker) for walking through this journey with Mark and his family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:30pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, IL 61111. There will also be a visitation from 10:00am until 11:00am on Thursday, March 8, 2018 with the funeral service at 11:00am in the funeral home. Pastor Mike Thomas from Zion Lutheran Church and Randy Heinzeroth from Mercyhealth at Home Hospice team will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
