Welcome to the memorial page for

Mario J. Del Fiacco

August 1, 1919 ~ December 26, 2017 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Mario J. Del Fiacco, 98, passed away on December 26, 2017 with his family by his side. The son of Dominic and Lucy (Cipriani) Del Fiacco. He was born on August 1, 1919 in Chicago. In 1943, Mario married his childhood friend and love of his life, Jennie (Cannizzaro), who predeceased him after 69 years of marriage. Mario and Jennie moved from Chicago to Princeton in 1950 where he worked as an engineer for LCN Door Closer for 44 years. He loved his job and didn't retire until the age of 70.

Mario overcame a lot of obstacles in his life, but always made the best of everything.  Because Mario had polio, he swam on a daily basis as long as he could and enjoyed all waters including lakes, oceans and swimming pools.  He was even swimming at the age of 98. He had an extraordinary love for the stock market. He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Bulls.

Mario is predeceased by his wife, Jennie. He had one brother and nine sisters who are all predeceased with the exception of Marie Oliveto of Elgin. He was the loving father of Pam (Don) Edwards, Rockford, Lu (Dan) Michard, Roscoe, and Dominic (Debbie) Del Fiacco, Princeton and 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grand children and 1 great-great grandchild.

Mario was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Mario enjoyed his family to the fullest and was always there for them. He was the anchor of our family and had a heart of gold. His immeasurable love for his family will live in our hearts forever. Our only consolation is that he is now at peace with his wife and loved ones.
