Lynn Maria Febery

On Friday, April 20th, the world lost a loving mom, a fierce friend, and a hilarious, wonderful woman.

Lynn was born on February 26, 1966 in Cheltenham, England to Bill and Christine (Gamble) Dyer. She studied at St. Benedict’s High School and Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology. Cheltenham is also where she met Shane, her husband of 30 years, when he crashed a party she was hosting.

During thirty years of marriage, Lynn and Shane drank thousands of cups of tea and beer, immigrated across the Atlantic, and had three children. To her children, Lynn passed on her best qualities. To Jason, she passed on her kindness and love of reading; to Samantha, she passed on her love of animals; to Charley, she passed on her passion and feistiness.

Through her children, Lynn will live on.

In 2015, Lynn received two lungs from a heroic organ donor. Her remaining three years were filled with love and joy: seeing Jason graduate from MIT, Samantha adopt three kittens and begin work in healthcare and Charley graduate high school and start her pet care business. Some days were harder than others, but Lynn received tremendous care and attention from the medical staff in the Loyola healthcare system -- and equally tremendous care from Shane, who was with her every step of the way.

Even on the difficult days, Lynn managed to stay upbeat, fighting like a badass until the very end. Her final act was to donate her organs to a person in need, showing the generosity with which she lived her entire life.

Although Lynn passed too young, the memories she leaves behind are enough to fill many lifetimes. Those left to cherish Lynn’s memory include her husband; her children and their partners; her father, Bill Dyer; her siblings, Russell Dyer, Nicola Parry, Danny Dyer, Dean Dyer, and Ashley Dyer; many cousins, nephews, and nieces; and, of course, countless friends.

A celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at Honquest Family Funeral Homes with Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd., Loves Park, Illinois on Friday April 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that her loved ones consider becoming an organ donor so that they can pass on the gift of life -- as Lynn so bravely did.
