Loretta "Karin" Hanson, 70, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 in the hospital in Alabama. Karin was born September 29, 1946. Karin graduated from Hononegah High School in 1965 and married Kenneth L. Hanson February 24, 1967 in California.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; sons, Kirk (Natalie) Hanson of South Beloit, Shawn (Lisa) Hanson of Roscoe; grandchildren, Aira L. Hanson, Trysten K. Hanson; the sons that showed up and never left, Lonnie Nelson of Roscoe, Richard Owens of Rockton; surviving siblings, Rick (Renee) O'Dell, Colleen (Steve) Bloyer, Scott O’Dell; loving nieces and nephews; and close family friends. Predeceased by her parents, Ellsworth and Bettyjane O'Dell.
Karin served as a crossing guard for many years in Roscoe and was active in her church. She loved going to the Boone County Fair and watching the horse shows. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughter, Aira play sports and she enjoyed going to softball and baseball games. She was an avid sports fan with her favorite teams the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 from 12:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe. The family asks that you wear your favorite sports attire or one of her teams in her honor; no suits or dress clothes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to be used for a donation to Vets Roll.
