Lon McGrew

Lon McGrew, 63, of Rockford, died on Monday, January 8th, 2018 with family by his side. Born December 2nd, 1954, in Rockford, the son of Barb and Al McGrew. Loving husband of 36 years to Veniche (Couch) McGrew and stepfather of Billy and Jackie Terrell.

Lon worked tirelessly to provide financial and emotional support for his family and worked as a heating and cooling engineer at OSF Medical Center for over 33 years. Through hard work, dedication, and some light bruising, he earned his black belt in Taekwondo. Walks in Sinnissippi Park along the Rock River were a favorite activity. Lon always enjoyed a cup of gourmet coffee, a glass of Guinness, or a good craft beer. He loved to listen to music and use his iPad every day. Lon was a good man, loving husband and father, and beloved by those around him. The stars shine a little less brightly without him and he will be missed.

Survived by, wife, Veniche (Couch) McGrew; stepson, Billy Terrell; stepdaughter, Jackie Terrell; granddaughter, Kelsey Steiner; sister, Colleen (McGrew) Monhollen; daughter-in-law, Heather Terrell; son-in-law, Kurt Steiner.

Predeceased by, son, Josiah McGrew; grandson, Jeffrey Martin; parents, Barb and Al McGrew; brother, James Peterson.
