I used to rent his old corn crib to store a car in for a few winter's. Stub and Mary we're very nice to me and my new wife back then. We have always been grateful for their kindness to us. We are very sad for your loss.

Although I hadn't seen him in years, Uncle Stub was a true blessing in my life. There is something to be said for little acts of kindness, they truly do matter. I will always remember roaming the farm and "helping" with the sheep once or twice. Then there were the times the family gathered to play cards in the basement. It was great times for me to be surrounded by so much love. Gayle and family, I am sorry for you loss, you were all truly blessed to have such a wonderful father/grandfather.

Wayne and I spent many enjoyable times with Stub and Mary in the Rio Grande Valley in TX, along with other friends from the Rockton area who spent their winters there. I also enjoyed working with Mary at Manley Sand Company many, many years ago. She was the telephone operator and I was a secretary. Stub, Mary and daughter Gayle almost always attended our monthly breakfast of our Winter Texan Club in Roscoe. I hope Gayle will continue to join us. We have lost a good friend.

Stub was my parents' insurance agent. Whenever he came to do business with them, Mary would sit in the car and read. I always expressed concern about him leaving her in the car. He would just smile and say " No she enjoys the ride and reading in the car." I wound up being a ride along and read person myself because of Stub and Mary.
