John Peter Guagliardo

September 16, 1953 ~ September 4, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

John Peter Guagliardo, 63, passed away in his home on September 3, 2017. He was born on September 16, 1953 in Rockford, Illinois to Nicholas and Anna (Maggio) Guagliardo. John was the middle of three children, and graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School in 1971. Shortly following high school he began a long career at the United States Post Office in Rockford, where he served faithfully for 38 years before retiring in 2010. John was a man of a gentile and generous nature. He was a parishioner and faithful Catholic at Saint Bridget's Church in Loves Park, where he attended Mass daily, and generously gave to various ministries. He volunteered for many years for the Thanksgiving dinner at Court Street Methodist Church in downtown Rockford. John was involved in activities of both his nieces and nephews. He was especially tireless in his care for his mother at Cor Mariae nursing home in Rockford. His mother attests that John was always there for her, helping the staff at Cor Mariae in providing for her care. He was also an avid sports fan. He enjoyed playing baseball and bowling. As an adult he loved following all sports, especially baseball, football, and hockey.

John is survived by his mother, Anna; sister, Linda Garson; brother, James (Kim);  nephews, Kenneth Garson and Donald Guagliardo; niece, Anne Gray; many great nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
