Janet Olivia Dobson

Janet Olivia (Webster) Dobson, 74, of Rockton, Illinois, passed into the hands of the Lord at home on August 11, 2017 after a short battle with cancer. Janet was born on March 29, 1943 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Walter E. and Ethel Eleanor (Ahlseen) Webster.  She graduated from Harlem High School in Machesney Park, Illinois in 1961. Janet was married to David D. Dobson from 1962 until his death in 1996.  Janet also shared many years of happiness with her partner in crime, Kenneth J. Nauert. Janet worked in the billing department at Hamilton Sundstrand for 25 years.  Everyone will miss her calm and assentive approach to life; she was a great support to all who knew her.  She was the life of the party and loved to dance.  She was an avid traveler. She had a deep love of growing her beautiful flowers and an immense appreciation of birds of every feather. Her deepest love however; she saved for family and friends.

Janet is survived by her brother, Barry (Joann) Webster; son, Kevin (Jennifer) Dobson; daughters, Kimberly Hardman, Kellie (Roger) Sly, Karalynn (Michael) Freet; grandchildren, Schuyler (Kristen) Strate, Alexis Dorsett, Paige Dobson, Parker Nelson, Olivia Dobson, Emma Dobson; step-grandchildren, Casey Schoonover, Jordan Freet, Ashley Sly, Veronica Sly, Natalie Sly and great-grandson, Dylan Potter.  Janet is predeceased by her parents; her husband, David; longtime partner, Ken. 

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Northeast Christian Church, 5651 E. Riverside Blvd., Rockford, IL, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Burial in Roscoe Cemetery following service and luncheon.
