James A. Oberts

James A. Oberts, 70, of Loves Park, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Born in Rockford on January 28, 1947 to Arthur and Marion (Hunsader) Oberts; married Cynthia Steadman on September 29, 1973 in Rockford.  Jim served in the Army in Vietnam and worked for 30 years at Valspar.  He was a Cubs, Packers and NASCAR fan.  He enjoyed gardening and being a grandpa and spending time with his family. 

Survived by his children, Aidan and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Oberts; three grandchildren; siblings, Nancy (William) Sweeney and Gary (Kristin) Oberts; and several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents and wife.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory-Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park.
