Irene A. Hammond

Today, earth has sorrowfully lost a beautiful soul, Irene Antionette Hammond, of Rockford on Wednesday, November 15, 2017; she was surrounded by her loved ones. She was a affectionate and devoted wife to the predeceased William Hammond and an endearing and sincere mother to David Cramer, Darcy Hammond-Abernathy, and predeceased Dale Hammond. A lighthearted and fun-loving grandmother to Jacob Cramer, Nicholas Hammond, Addison Abernathy, and Skye Abernathy.  A true friend, a confidant, a motivator, and an inspiration to all who were privileged to know her. Predeceased by parents, Vincent and Bernice Karsky; and brother, Walter Karsky.

Irene attended Wisconsin State University, retired from the offices of Winnebago County, and was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Irene’s enthusiasm for life, her self-sacrificing nature, her hilarity, her energy, her generosity and her love will remain in our hearts forever. Today, Heaven has blissfully found a beautiful soul.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory – Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Road, Loves Park with a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
