Gene A Wartgow, 84, of Rockford died at home and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 18, 2016.  Born August 4, 1932 in Butternut, WI, son of Arthur and Olive Wartgow.  Gene was a member of Maywood Evangelical Free Church where he served as trustee and also served in mission trips to the Philippines, Honduras and Kentucky.  Gene was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  His greatest joy was family and spending time with his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. 

Survivors include sons, Jeff (Joyce) Wartgow and Mark (Stacey) Wartgow; daughter, Jeannie Shawver; grandchildren, Matthew (Jill) Montoya, Shannon (Gregory) Zies, Emily (Aaron) Powell, Brooks, Elijah and Lilly Wartgow; great-grandchildren, Pryce and Addison Zies; brother, David (Bonnie) Wartgow; sisters, Sharon Teter and Judy Hart.  Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Patricia.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Heartland Hospice.
