Elizabeth "Betty" I. Nielsen

Elizabeth "Betty" I. Nielsen was born May 11, 1919 in Gerard, IL, the youngest child of Archie and Louella Fletcher.  Betty passed away peacefully on her 97th birthday at Cor Mariae Center.  She graduated from Hononegah High School and married Alfin Nielsen on December 23, 1939 at the Hunter Church in Caledonia, IL.  Together they owned and operated the Nielsen Homestead, a dairy farm, on White School Road for 37 years.  Betty worked at Bergner's Department Store in Beloit for 20 years before her retirement.  She was a lifetime member of the Sunshine Club and a member of Young At Heart.  The family wants to thank Heartland Hospice and the staff at Cor Mariae Center for all their loving care.

Survivors include her daughters, Janice (Harold) Schermerhorn and Diane (John) Dowd; granddaughters, Lisa Paris, Brenda Macias and Tara Leggero; three great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband; three infant children and one grandchild. 

Funeral Service will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 11:00am until the service in Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main Street, Roscoe with Pastor Paul Meyers officiating.  Graveside service will be at 2:30pm in Livingston Cemetery, North Boone School Road, Caledonia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Heartland Hospice. Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel is honored to assist the family.
