Elaine McClellan

Elaine McClellan, 86, of Rockford, the daughter of Nels and Hildur Oberg, passed away Monday, August 28, 2017. Elaine’s extended Bloom family settled into a half block on Charles Street where the aunts, uncles and their families gathered on many occasions before folks grew up and moved on. Elaine married Gerald (husband of almost 65 years) and he built their house with his own hands, where they raised their 3 children, Larry, Susan Jambor (husband Ed, daughter Erinn, and Julie Foster (husband Jeff). Elaine instilled the loved of reading into her children and those she served as librarian at AC Thompson and Turner Elementary Schools. At home, Elaine was most known for her baking prowess. Her pie crust was so good you could eat it plain.

Many thanks to sister Marlene (Mo) Johnson (husband Bob) for the many Stockholm lunches that were the highlight of mom’s week. Thanks to Bickford House for welcoming Elaine with grace, her caregivers there, and to Heartland Hospice, especially Tara and Souk.

Per Elaine’s wishes no services will be held. Memorials may be given to Cherry Valley Library.
