Dorothy L. Woodard

Dorothy L. Woodard, 95, returned home on October 25, 2017 in Rockford.  Born in Ogle County, Illinois on June 18, 1922 to Roy and Laura (Rickard) Crill; married Stanley Woodard in 1941 in Wichita Falls, Texas.  She was employed at Hiawatha School District and JC Penneys and was an organist for Fairdale and Christ United Methodist churches for many years.

Survived by her children, Kathie Woodard, Janice Shimaitis, Mary Sell and Dana (Beverly) Woodard; six grandchildren, Amy Saso, Heather (Jared) Wick, Jason (Christine) Woodard, Tanaka (Ausharra) Knox, Justin (Hillary) Woodard and Adam (Andrea) Woodard; one step-grandson, Brian (Suzanne) Shimaitis; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  Predeceased by husband, Stanley, in 1955; parents; brother, Willard; sons-in-law, Ron Sell and Paul Shimaitis.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00am with a Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 on Monday, October 30, 2017 in Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Road, Rockford 61107 with Rev. Scott Himel officiating.  Lunch will be served at the church following the service.  Burial in Roseland Cemetery, Monroe Center.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Christ United Methodist Church.
