Doris M. Young

Doris M. Young, 91, of Belvidere, IL passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016.  Born on August 31, 1925 in Wyalusing, Wisconsin, daughter of Carson and Esther (Baumer) Root. Married Thomas Young in 1942. Doris served our country as a Pvt. WAC in the U.S. Army during WWII and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. She worked for Sherwin-Williams/Ball Corp. in Elgin, IL for many years.  She was also an eloquent writer who delighted family and friends with cards and letters.  

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Arnold, Thomas Young, Jr., Jill (Rick) Ramsey, Duffy (Colleen) Young, Kelly (Deb) Young and Jenny Merrill; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by husband in 1992; infant child, Sally and daughter-in-law, Pam Young.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 5:00pm with a Memorial Service at 5:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2016 in Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory, Roscoe Chapel, 11342 Main Street, Roscoe.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to Fisher House Foundation at fisherhouse.org, which provides free or low cost lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers.  Burial in Marinette, WI next to her husband.  To share a memory or express condolences, visit honquestfh.com.
