Dale "Roger" R. Harris

Dale “Roger” Harris, 96, of Rockford, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017. He was born on February 26, 1921 in Rockford to Wilbur and Della Harris. On November 28, 1946 he married Mildred Wettergren in Rockford. In Roger’s early years he co-owned S&H Nursery. He then went on to work at Ipsen Commercial Heat Treating where he retired from in 1983. Roger continued to work for nearly 20 more years at Eastwind Mall Business Complex. He was a WWII veteran who served in the Army Medical Corps in Panama. Roger was a member of Tabor Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his children, Dale (JoAnne) Harris, II and Diane L. (Kris) Moline; grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Danial (Sarah) Petrie, Holly (James) Lewis and Kim (Tim) Stec; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Zachary, Gavin, Isaiah, Aalyah and Josiah; special friend, Beverly Lanholt. Predeceased by his parents; wife, Mildred; sisters, Mary Burlend and Barbara Danielson; brother, Wayne Harris.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Tabor Lutheran Church, 2233 12th Ave., Rockford, IL 61104 with Rev. Jane McChesney officiating. A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to Tabor Lutheran Church. Cremation rites have been accorded.
