After battling an aggressive brain tumor, Ann Mary O’Malley, 60, passed away peacefully in her home in Roscoe, on Monday, February 26, 2018.
Ann Mary was born on August 4, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to Martin and Mary O’Malley. She attended Our Lady of Victory Grammar School and Resurrection High School of Chicago. In her twenties, she purchased her family home on Sunnyside Avenue where she later began raising her family. Loving both the city and country life, Ann Mary raised her daughters in Chicago, Polo, and Pecatonica before settling in Roscoe, IL.
Perhaps the most telling aspects of Ann Mary’s beautiful life can be seen through the numerous communities she touched along the way. From her beginnings at her parents’ convenience store in Chicago, to night shifts at Dominicks, to driving a school bus in Polo, to many years at UPS - Ann Mary worked numerous jobs for her own family, but in turn bettered the lives of families everywhere she went. In her final years, she worked as the Office Manager at Advanced Autosports, but true to her character, she was known as the “track mom,” cooking food and building community for her customers. Ann Mary was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, cousin, aunt, grandmother, and friend and she will be missed dearly by many.
Ann Mary is survived by her husband, David Wheeler; her two daughters, Maureen and Megan; her mother, Mary O’Malley; her siblings, Patrick (Leatha); Martin Jr., Timothy, and Eileen (Timothy Ness); her nephews and nieces, Sean, Emmet, Ellen, Mary Kate, Fiona, Ciara, and Danny; her stepdaughters, Michelle (Ben) and Susan; and her grandchildren, Ainsley, Miles, and Jackson. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Martin O’Malley.
